Market Street has outlined
a process for the Piedmont Triad region that will succeed in uniting
all regional
communities under the umbrella of quality growth and sustainable
development. At the end of the strategic
visioning period, the Piedmont Triad will have a regional roadmap
guiding local communities towards a
collective visionary future.
Market Street Services, Inc., is excited about the opportunity
to assist in the development and implementation of a Regional Vision
Plan that accomplishes the following tasks, as dictated by Section
13.6 of House Bill 1414:
- Perform a comprehensive study of the region’s resources
and existing businesses located in the region to determine what
business clusters exist and the boundaries of those clusters.
- Ensure that the benefits of the economic development plan are
widely dispersed and that the plan provides real opportunities
in rural areas as well as in urban and suburban areas.
- Develop focused and targeted economic development initiatives
related to the recruitment and development of new businesses and
the retention of existing businesses.
- Provide a mechanism for continuous monitoring of the regional
economy and competitiveness indicators.
- Recommend infrastructure investments to meet the region's current
and anticipated future needs.
- Integrate the North Carolina Community College System and The
University of North Carolina into economic development efforts
and planning.
- Create leadership networks that span the public and private
sectors and that facilitate communication
within clusters.
